I understand what you're saying @eclap but as @Ayahuasca said, it's not the same thing.

During Shadowlands (when I had some time) I mythic raided without any sort of boost or real world money being used (other than the sub). You absolutely don't need to use those services to progress in WOW (or any of the other non P2W games). Unfortunately the community gatekeeping is the main issue (that and people who don't want to work for their gear). You hit a brick wall in P2W games (by design) which can only be overcome by spending money. You cannot progress (to any meaningful level) without it.
 
I think there's a conscious with people not like to be able to buy specifics that make the game easier and doable due to playerbase and gate keeping
A level playing field or a choice of grind or pay is good for me. It's a free game so paying for something is fine as long as it's my choice and not because I can't do something which I'm annoyed about.
