throttle delay

thanks for your replies guys

was driving it most of the day yesterday, and sort of getting used to it..
But as im getting used to the car, im finding that i dont really like the feel of it..
especially the steering.. its very responsive and twitchy.. where as my astra isnt.. it has more of a dead feel to it.. which i like..
the golf is very easy to sway across the lane with, with just a touch of the wheel..
where as my astra takes a proper directional movement to move the steering..

im thinking about putting the golf up for sale..
i know my astra is a pain in the ass on fuel.. but atleast i love the feel of how it drives

you are comparing a 15 year old golf to a 3 year old Astra, the difference in how the car drives should be night and day.

For example im running about in a £900 e46 3 series having spent a year in a brand new M135i and everything about the 3 series is pants but I accept that as its cheap and old.

Electronic systems are almost always less responsive and have less feel. That's why people hated it when BWM started using them on the M series :/

It shouldnt be THAT bad though.

That's the electric power steering, not because it was slow (because it wasn't/isn't) but because it removes the "connected to the road" feeling such systems bring whereas the hydraulic power steering relays the road surface perfectly to those cars.

The flyby wire throttles used by BMW have all been nearly instantly responsive and reacts to mm of pedal travel in the models I've driven, both auto and manual and from 2003 to present.
