Anyway after all the small talk and making sure I was legally entitled to drive it they asked if they could have a spin in it as they were going off duty. It was quite fun actually. I was nervous as hell though.

ahaha..they sound like the two coppers off Early Doors.

Yep, there are good 'uns about. Unfortunately it's the little Hitlers that give the rest of them a bad name :(

I have a couple of policeman who I know quite well, would probably call them friends...and in the 3/4 times I have been in situations where I or the person I have been with has been pulled over the officer's have always been polite and friendly.

Treat them with respect and they will more than likely respond back in the same way; they are humans like us after all.

Good piece of advice, treat them like dirt and they will treat you the same back.

It all depends on how to treat them, just think you would react if someone mouthed off to you in your job, it's the same for them (although theres always the few who are on a power trip or are having a bad day or have to keep up the daily quota etc)

I had a copper give me a tow start on the side of the motorway once, I was well and truely stuck otherwise (unless reverse gear bump starts work  ) since I was going up a hill when the fuel pump decided to be a git (the rubber suction was going, though I didnt know that)
Was the early hours and subzero too.

Also been held at the side of the road with no charge on a dozen or so occasions too. One time it was 45 mins for a broken headlight bulb, apparently a sure sign of a major criminal on the loose.
No problems since I passed 20 though.

Had some undercover CID people come to get me once just because my battery went flat in a seedy area (it was free city parking and I was working shifts) and they thought I was picking up  Instead they gave me a push start :D

Got to agree, just picked up the new MX5 and decided to take some arty shots in Bushy Park. There are loads of park maintenance roads so i cheekily pulled down one of these and start taking pics. Cop car pulls off the main road and parks behind me, ooo eck. Asks if it's mine and says i shouldn't have gone past the sign. Explained i was sorry just picked it up etc. He proceeds to get out and have a nose around, asks the specs of the new model, sits in it. Great bloke as it turns out. Be nice and they are usually nice back. :)
