Hi,

Set up the Web Mail extension for Thunderbird yesterday and set up my hotmail account with Thunderbird. Took ages for my messages to download but it all worked.

However, now when I log into my Hotmail account (online as normal) instead of syncing my messages (as I thought it was going to) my hotmail account is totally empty. I just have the messages on my home PC. This isn't what I was after, does anyone know anyway I can get my messages back onto the hotmail (online) account? I'd rather have them there than just all on my computer.

Cheers,

Great, will try that later.

Any idea if it will upload my inbox back to hotmail or is it now too late?

It won't copy the messages back that have already been downloaded, you can do this with IMAP but I doubt Hotmail has IMAP support.

Oh, fiddlesticks.

Ah well, I guess I can backup the important messages in Thunderbird. Thanks for your help.

How do you find Thunderbird compared to outlook mate?

Much the same to be honest. I only use Thunderbird to send/receive mail and nothing else (calendars, appointments, contact storage etc). I use Outlook (2003) at work and it's ok. Seems like a bit more of a resource hog, but not by too much.

Like I say, for what I use it for (at home) there isn't much to choose between the two. I think Thunderbird maybe slightly faster (loading etc) but I haven't tried outlook on my home PC.

Sorry I can't really you offer you a comprehensive comparison of the two.

Cheers,

aaazza
