I don't know what is up with mozilla software latley but it seems to be failing for me. I have my sky email address setup in outlook express and it is working fine, yet in thunderbird using exactly the same settings I just keep getting the message "the connection was refused" everytime I try to get my mail.

Does Thunderbird have problems sending and receiving or just sending? If so, is your SMTP server authenticated? Finally, your AV/Firewall software may be blocking port 25, if so try adding thunderbird to the whitelist or disable this feature completely.

Can you show us a screenshot of the Outlook Express settings for your account and the same for Thunderbird. Obviously blank out the username.
