Thunderbolt Drobo Coming Soon!

lol, nothing like it being Thunderbolt and usb 3.0, usb3.0 cable £2, thunderbolt cable £40, effective speed for the same device, pretty much the same........

THe best part of thunderbolt(which was supposed to be optical to start with) is its finally going optical, wooo..... it isn't going natively optical, they are merely making cables with optical convertors in, and they are likely to cost several times as much as the already very expensive cables.

Just a cynical attempt to lock the market into a new set of ultra expensive chips and cables that Intel can profit from rather than people using USB and the like. Display port could almost certainly be adapted to do what Thunderbolt does, huge bandwidth, daisychaining, and someone that isn't Intel might get the drivers working.

AFAIK hotplugging still crashes windows and the windows drivers are a joke. The quicker Intel's attempt to push thunderbolt into the mainstream dies the better for everyone.

May buy two of these!

Well drobo's should ship the cables included, unlike some other drives. Its going to be expensive but you wont see a price drop for some time looking back to the previous drobo's.

Im still using a 4 bay v2 and growing into unprotected external disks now.
