Thunderbolts*

Standard figure for anything made by DEIsney is that you muiply the cost by 2.5 and then add 100 million extra for marketing. The criteria is less forgiving for non woke stuff. Sometimes you also have to add back government subsidies.

Captain America cost 180. X 2.5 =450 + 100 = 550. It only made 415 at Box Office so 135 loss.

Thunderbolts cost 180 as well but has only made 357 so far. 198 loss.

Double dumpster fire woke broke sale of garbage, basically.

Even Sinners got a ROFLMAO IN THE BIN from him.
No film is to big to escape the bin.

Joking aside, I've exaggerated the figures a bit, as do many people in this forum :p but even being generous with the figures they've barely broken even. Shame as Thunderbolts is very good imo.

I'm off to stream Captain America, IMAX enhanced version on D+.

Just seen it in IMAX, very good. 8 or maybe 8.5/10

Stay for the second end credits scene, it's pretty awesome.

So that calculation is nonsense then, as you seem to be part of the "woke and DEI" buzzword fan club. We know how that thought process usually goes.

Frankly Thundernolts* is actually a decent movie and certainly not "woke".
;)

Remember that the theatres get 50% of ticket sales.

Took it out of the bin today, for a second viewing. Will stick with the 8/10 rating I gave after watching it in the cinema. On par with GOTG Vol.3 as the best of phase 5, in a grounded kind of way.

Not always, it depends on the Studio and agreement. For Star Wars the Phantom Menace they got no cut at all. For most new films it can be as little as 20% in the first week of release then a sliding scale to up to 50% before the cinematic run ends.

Absolutely. That's why cinema snacks are now so expensive. Its one of the main ways for them to get revenue.

Goodness knows how it works for the Cineworld Unlimited card where you pay a small monthly fee and can go as often as you want.

I can only assume Cineworld more or less takes all the money as you're not 'buying' a ticket so the studio gets no cut or much less and I believe you get discount on food too so are more likely to buy and they still make decent profit, especially on Popcorn.

I wish Vue would do something similar to the Unlimited card. My closest Cineworld is a 30-40 minute drive away. There's a Vue 5 minutes down the road.

Was hoping this would be better than it was.
How did they create sentry? A seemingly god like power and created in a lab?
There's no good explanation at all. It's basically Squirrel Girl defeating the Marvel Universe; you never see it happen, but it just does (off screen). But in Sentry's case (and some others) it's using "another" Special Serum that moves molecules ahead in time that allows the power of a thousand exploding suns...

Hey, at least it's not as bad as stuff like "They got it via the Character Writer/Self insert name super secret special serum" that's floating about in comics either...

I think they released the post credits scene on YT/Twitter, in HD/4K. Longest post credits ever (Although judging by box office numbers not many people will have seen it  ).

Spoiler tagged it just in case, albeit the film has been out for a while now:

I thought this was supposed to be well received. I can't help but feel that this was considered good simply because of the utter dross most of the MCU has churned out lately. It was fine but nothing more. Still suffers massively for having way too many characters that you simple don't care even a little bit about. Would anyone care if any of them were never seen again? Do any of them have what it takes to carry the franchise? Not even close. Yes there were weaker characters in the "golden era" of the MCU but even then they were alright and compensated for by the core star cast.

That's the entire point? It's meant to be a group of rejects that nobody cares about. That's why she uses them. And yeah, if we never saw Bucky, Alexei or Yelena in the MCU again it would absolutely suck. Bob was an interesting character who I'd love to see again. In fact the only one I'm not really fussed about was Ghost. Even Walker is interesting enough that I'd see him again.
