I have read about them being removed by having the top layer of the monitor taken off and blowing them off, then replacing it. What worries me is dust then getting in during the process.....a real risk if not done in a sterile lab and then makes the problem worse.

The technique I posted doesn't work for everyone, including me after that thread. Another one sandwiched itself right in the middle. I RMA'd claiming dead pixels. The more returns they get (it's not just ASUS, already seen one in this Dell) the better chance they'll address the issue at the design stage.
