Thunderstorms

Do you, haven't had any for years and years. About 4 or 5 years ago, when my bedroom window fell out,
I want a good storm. For the sky to go black, rain to flood roads within seconds and lightning and thunder, that are a million times bigger than the biggest firework display.

That's exactly what we had the other night. It was fantastic. Got a decent video of a fork on my phone. It was right on top of me and lightning was striking all around my house so I couldn't set the video going in one spot!


Reaper that pic hurts my eyes.
 
It has been a bit mad over the last few days up here. Currently waiting for one to pass by now, stuck in hartlepool marina (out cycling) and it's rumbling away, headed your way too pete :)

Time to get another coffee I think.

Yep got some cracking thunder at the moment, dog is suitably freaking out, not seen any decent lightning though.

Some great lightning the other night though :)

One has just buggered off.... been going for half an hour.. think it must be heading towards Darlington.
 
:( None here in Northallerton today, brighgt sunshine most of the day and just had a mad 2 minute shower, sunny again now, hope i see some tonight while i'm driving home from work
 
who want the average number of thunderstorm from here? 53 thunderstorms in a year.

But it's not always funny especially when 200 mm of rain falls in two hours...here was Lugano.

the strenght of the thunderstorm...

 
I was in Denmark last week and they had a amazing thunderstorm!

They had a ridiculous amount of rain fall in one evening, the thunder was just deafening :eek:

Amazing and scary at the same time, never been in rain like it.

Didn't affect things too badly either :p the metro was delayed for about ~40 minutes :p
 
Must have missed us!

The one last year was awesome! Was out on my bike and popped ino my lasses work. Within seconds the skies had opened, and dumped 3 inches of rain on the roads. the kerbs were overflowing. Knocked a load of power out, as fork lightning had hit the same substation 3 times!
Fork lighning everywhere. I followed it down to the coast and watched it over the sea. A fair few years since the last awesome one.

I love thunderstorms.
 
I got caught in one cycling home, all was sunny and happy, la de daa etc. 10mins later and I've never been so wet in my entire life. Huge puddle in the kitchen with bike gear.

Was fun though having the crack of the lightning in front of me whilst cycling home though :).
 
Pretty crazy weather in Edinburgh.

Flash floods and around 2-3 hours of thunder + Rain yesterday.

Pretty much the same again right now.
