Thunderstorms

Well I'm disappointed. Had nothing at all on Thursday night. Last night had a few distant rumbles which died out before midnight. :(

We could really use another storm now in the southeast. The air's like tepid soup down here!

Usually I come home and throw the windows open to let a bit of fresh air blow through the place, but I think if I did that now the flat would flood.

Got woken up (wide awake) in a split second at about 5:40am this morning by the loudest crack/rumble of thunder I can ever remember. Usually I sleep through thunder and lightning and wonder what everyone is talking about the next day, but I certainly heard that bugger.

Proceeded by quite a few more rumbles and flashes until about 6:20, but it's just rain now.

Anyone know what the green lines are on the lightning maps?

I was at first thinking sound, but the one I've just captured goes straight over Manchester (where I currently am) and I've not heard a thing.

It's the indicator for which stations have picked them up. You can untoggle it on the website, as you can see you have 'stations: on' just press that.

Gf woke me up about 3:45 when she could hear it, then promptly fell back to sleep while I was left wide awake until 5 when it finished. Tried to get some pics and video but they weren't decent on my phone.

Wasn't the worst (read best) but that's probably because I'm in Birmingham, but was still pretty decent. A lot of high up rumbles and flashes then when the forks came down some wicked cracks. I'm amazed my gf slept through it.

Lots of rain last night, a little thunder. Still the house temp is still 23c, would have thought it would off dropped more with all that water.

Quite a heavy thunder storm over the Staffordshire Moorlands last night.

Lighting was regular and very close. Thunder shook the windows. The way the lightning kept flashing reminded me of the scenes from the War of the Worlds remake when they aliens came down. Was lighting up the street.

I dont know if it is just my imagination, but the air felt electric (we had our windows partly open). My teeth were on edge and my joints were aching! Really, really weird feeling.
