Thunderstorms

Came back through the worst storm I have ever experienced. Joined the motorway driving towards a thick black cloud, few drops and then it hits you like a brick wall. Wipers going as fast as they could and I couldn't see ****. Standing water/flooded M5 is not a good experience, especially when you can feel the car trying to aquaplane :(

Epic sheet lightening with occasional forks every 15 seconds or so earlier tonight, and a few hours of sustained torrential rain. But then, it's hitting rainy season, so this happens. First typhoon of the season is heading straight for my city, due to make landfall Tuesday, so I see a day off work in my near future, hurrah!

Wtf, is that thunder or are we under attack. Never heard anything like it. It's not loud, as its very far away, but latterly about 30 in a row like a chain of bangers
Edit - ok happened a few more times, are they firing canons apt the harbour festival.

I just heard this too. Are you over in Surrey?

I had this once driving through Austria. Couldn't do more than 20-30 on the motorway, and had to have my fog lights on to pick out the white lines. But every time the lightening flashes - which was every few seconds - it was like broad daylight.

We had an all-nighter Friday night in Ipswich. Last night it started sparking off again at 9.30 pm whilst we were at the local stadium. Less intense than Friday but it carried on until the early hours, mostly slipping past rather than directly overhead.
