Hi,

When I ran the THX Optimizer audio tests using the star Wars dvds. The fr left, fr right and center speakers test fine. But when it comes to the SR and SL the sound comes from the front speakers. When it comes to the bass test, it is totally silent.

I am using the ps3 as the blu-ray player. The Amp is Sony STR DN1030. The bass is a Camb minx x301.

The amp test tones play properly in the right positions.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply. In video settings/BD-audio output format I set it to bitstream

But when I go into audio output settings then select the connection on the tv or amp to hdmi then automatic it then says output format linear pcm 2 channel.

Are you connecting the PS3 direct to the TV first then the TV to the amp via ARC or Optical? If so, that's the problem. The TV is forcing the PS3 signal down to 2 channel PCM, and so the amp is decoding it as if it's stereo rather than preserving the multichannel-bitstream nature of the signal. Solution: Connect PS3 to amp, then amp to TV.

Where you're connecting the amp and PS3 directly, but still getting this mixed up sound, check the audio menu selection on the DVD/BD disc. It could be defaulting to 2 channel stereo. What you'll need to do is choose the multichannel option from the disc menu.

Hi,
BD-audio output format I set it to bitstream. I have tried resetting the ps3, but it still keeps defaulting to 2 channel stereo

deccied to invest in a new amp and player.

Thanks for the help.

Yeah, I saw that you're buying new, but I think you're still missing a trick though. Anyway, good luck.
