My wife and her mother both support Liverpool so I was thinking of getting them a ticket each for a game for Christmas. The s*nderland game looks like a good shout and it should mean they see a comfortable double figure victory, providing their are no beachball incidents of course, but can anyone recommend in which part of the ground I should get them at? I've had look on the website and there are a whole host of lounges etc so thought I would see if anyone could suggest a particular one perhaps?

Thanks

Blimey, just had a look at the prices and they start at £115+vat! I know Liverpool is a substantially bigger club than Newcastle but I had assumed there would have been some tickets available in the £60 mark or so.

It also seems that the general members sale sells out the day it goes on sale too so unless I time it right I have no chance of even getting a cheap seat!

Last time I tried to buy a ticket on the phone, they told me I needed a fan card too. Much easier to go and buy them at the window (if you know someone local), or chance it and try to buy them online (I've never succeeded).

Sunderland *shouldn't* be impossible to get a ticket for (it will sell out within hours of going on sale) but that will depend on how well we're going. It's also still a 3 o'clock Saturday game at the moment. Your best bet if it gets moved to a Monday night.

Pretty sure they still go sale on the Thursday, two weeks before the match, so the Sunderland game will go on sale Thursday 20th of Feb.

Tickets in the stands (rather than in hospitality) are <£60. I paid <£50 for a main stand ticket last time I went (Man U).

Thanks for the advice, waiting 2 weeks before the game isn't really an option as I'd like it for Christmas (or at least know I've paid for it even if I don't have the ticket for Christmas day).

Spending £115+ on a hospitality ticket looks about the only option I have sadly!

The way Liverpool sell tickets means that they often go in and out of availability. Tickets for the first half of the season are put on sale as soon as the fixtures are announced (and the second half of the season go on sale in November) and because people are purchasing tickets months in advance, you often get people returning tickets due to no longer being able to attend the game.

Obviously it's not guaranteed but it wouldn't surprise me if there's a general sale at some point for returned tickets for the Sunderland game. As inogen touches on, your best chance would be if the date of the game is moved for TV.

There'll be tickets on sale nearer the time, it's a pain if you plan to give them a ticket as a present as you can't guarantee they'll get one even when they go on late availability. The only way of getting a ticket in hand for Christmas will be hospitality as I think all of the EPL home games have now sold out for the rest of the season.

As Baz said, tickets for LFC home games go on sale in batches. If you miss them due to work or not having enough previous games on a membership card, you just have to wait for any late availability ones that have been sent back or they sometimes hold some back for general sale a few weeks before the match.

If you do manage to see tickets on GS or LA make sure you take what you get instantly instead of looking for better seats or more games, I hit checkout with 12 minutes left and all my tickets got deleted from the basket and was left with nothing. Of course the club have said it is my fault when querying it with many others.

It's very hard to get tickets.

Most sell out before they even get to general sale. Season ticket holders, then various stages of memberships and then those who attented x amount of games, fancard holders etc.

The lounge tickets seem the only way of getting tickets in my experience but are expensive.
