Just had a couple of emails come through saying i've booked tickets to two gigs from ticketweb / ticketmaster. Comes down that their mailing system has been targeted.

Dear Ticketmaster customer,

This is a courtesy email regarding the Bowling For Soup event at O2 Academy Leeds on 19 October 2012.

We would like to remind all VIP ticket holders to arrive at least 90 minutes before the doors open for this event.

Your VIP package includes:

- Early entry to the venue for the best view.
- EXCLUSIVE acoustic performance by Jaret & Erik of Bowling For Soup, and members of The Dollyrots and Patent Pending.
- Photo with all 4 members of Bowling For Soup
- Limited edition autographed poster

Please be advised of the following VIP package information:

VIP ticket holders should arrive at the venue at least 90 minutes before doors open.
There will be a separate line for VIP holders near the box office.
VIP ticket holders will be led into the venue by a representative of the band (Tour Manager or his assistant), 90 minutes prior to the doors opening for their meet & greet.
After the meet & greet, VIP ticket holders will be led into the venue, so they can obtain their preferred viewing position.

I got the ticketweb one, which is weird as I don't remember ever buying anything there (could be something from years ago I suppose - possibly a London show).
Kinda annoying they don't see to have a password reset link on their site.
 
I had both of these wondered wtf was going on cheers. Had to sign in to ticketmaster to check though mind. Not via an email may I add not quite that stupid.
 
Had the one for the O2 academy Birmingham.

edit: Do we need to do anything? Is it just the email addresses that they've knicked?

Me too - Heaven 17 Birmingham O2 arena.

I've googled around and weirdly, this appears to be the only forum that is discussing it on the web and loads of OCUK forum users have been affected despite it being a relatively small and completely unrelated forum...is this just a freakish coincidence or is this some how related to OCUK?

Hopefully its just the email address that has been taken. I haven't noticed any suspicious activity in my bank account.
 
Could it just not be an error on Ticketmasters part. i.e. sending everyone on their mailing a list instead of the correct subset.

I hear of that kind of thing happening a lot.
