Ticking from front left wheel

Noticed yesterday that my front wheel has started making a ticking noise, it sounds just like a stone stuck in the tread, but have checked all tyres fully and nothing there. The noise gets faster and slow in correspondence to the speed of the vehicle but doesn't get faster or louder depending on rpm, so im thinking its not the engine. Could a wheel bearing cause this? I've read something about a loose bolt? I have no vibration coming from the steering, and the direction of the wheel makes no difference to the sound, so i think that can rule out a cv joint. Anything less than 20ish mph and there is no noise, and im pretty sure, although hard to tell, i think it gets louder the faster i go, but like i said this has nothing to do with the rpm.

Any ideas?

sounds very similar to the three bearings ive replaced on my fiesta.

however it also reminds me of when i replaced a few anti roll bar bushes

I've never heard a failing wheel bearing make any sound that you could describe as "ticking".

Rumbling/groaning/whirring/droning yes, but ticking? Not in my experience.

I had this... Could hear a ticking noise being reflected off of building that matched my speed... Turns out a wheel nut was loose.. Tightened it and was on my way again :)

It could also be a warped brake disk. My clio does the exact same thing. Take off the wheel and spin the disk, you should see the pad going on and off the disk if it's warped.

Got this checked out today, turned out to be a slightly loose brake pad. Car was in at citroen for almost an hour but they didn't charge me as they didn't actually fix or replace anything, they just took it apart and put it back together! Free fix, yay!
