Hi guys, I've recently noticed a ticking like sound coming from (obviously) my case. The only thing I can imagine it being is a bad bearing on a fan - would this be a fair assumption? Going off the basis that I don't actually know what a bad fan bearing sounds like. It is consistent on timing, though it isn't always there  any ideas would be welcome.

Have you tried unplugging all your case fans to see if it stops?

No but when I get a moment I'll give that a try, thanks.

Mechanical HDDs and fans are the normal culprits.

My HDD hasn't shown any issues so the only thing I can assume is fans. It's not a normal 'tick' from a HDD, so I imagine. Somewhat remembering how it sounds from my old rig :)

as above make sure nothing has touched the fan blades i had this one it was a saggy cable lol pushed it out of teh way and noise disappeared.

Try speeding up and slowing down each fan individually, to see if the ticking increases, or decreases. :)

One of my fans tick as you have described.

Also, are you running PWM fans?

Long shot... Do you have a Corsair PSU, there was an issue with some that had a little bit of plastic that used to get hit by the fan. It happened to me but didn't start up straight away.

Double check for anything touching the fan blades as well.

Triple checked - nothing dangling. My case has pretty good cable management :)

No PWN fans!

Cooler Master SilentPro 850W bud.

My case does this but its because of the way I have a fan cable routed and at times it will vibrate off the fan casing.

Moved the cable and it no longer happens. Might be worth checking you have no fan/cables resting on parts of the case if not tied down etc.
