Tidy backup solution, is this a good plan ? Input please :)

It's going to depend on your usage obviously but to me, there's no point. It's too long to wait to have a full backup, that's before you get to the aspect of what happens when you've been away for a couple of weeks and download 8GB or so of photos to your machine on your return - how many days later is it before they're actually backed up?

To me, it's simply too unpredictable. That and the fact I have the ability to put together a better solution myself, I'd prefer not to in an ideal world but there's nothing off the shelf which works in my opinion.

And I was annoyed that I had the bandwidth to do it quicker but they wouldn't play, not something they advertise as being a limitation annoyingly...

Yeah, I guess so. 8Gb is the best part of 2 days to upload.

I suppose it depends on your usage profile. I have a couple of ADSL+ lines in my flat, so one just gets used for work stuff - backups, FTP etc. so I don't really notice it.. It's unrestricted and just goes as often as possible.

From my perspective it makes no difference, iv been doing on site back ups for 3/4 years and nothing thankfully has gone wrong, so as long as it lasts another 4 months ill also have an off site back up for less than a tenner, win win really.

I think that's the wrong way to use these services. They are a third line of backup, after all you should have some form of backup at home. That way if the local backups goes belly up you can get the data back from the cloud.

Well as I said, depends on your use. One of my many problems is I'm primarily using a laptop, so when I'm over to Denmark (where I have access to a Gigabit internet connection at my desk), I can backup all my new files before I fly home, I can easily generate 4-5GB of files in a 3 day trip over there, which I can't easily back up.

Not saying that it's a terrible service, but it's not perfect either unfortunately and the upload speed limit is really annoying, I don't know about you but if I paid for it and then had a fire and lost some photos which hadn't yet uploaded I'd be really pretty annoyed.
