Tidy Cables!

I saw a good oil heater reduced from £180 to £10 the other day in Halfords... I thought it was too good to be true, and told myself if it was still there in a week I'd buy it. I went back recently, it wasn't there :( Oh well!

What ever happened to central heating

My radiator is blocked, so it doesn't get warm... if anything it cools the room... and I have no idea about plumbing...

Have you tried bleeding it? don't need to be a plumber to do this. Failing that get a £10 fan heater from hardware shop. temps like that are not good for you. Also bad for the house to have some parts hot and some cold

Yer, I've tried bleeding it. Its filled to the brim... with cold water :P

got me hooked here, if you try tuning the others in the house down or off does the one we're talking about get hot? If it does it just means they need balancing

@DigiReaper : Yuppers, I have double checked that and got my house mates to triple check!

@G-Dubs : Not sure, haven't tried that actually, but will have to wait a week to try because all my room-mates are at their families' homes for winter. If it helps, one of the pipes going into the radiator (presumably the IN pipe...) gets really hot when the heating is on, but the heat doesn't get past the valve.

Sounds like someones either turned it off or it just needs balancing out. At the hot end, depending on how old the rads are either turn the plastic cap thing all the way the other way to which it currently is, or lift the plastic cap off an with a set of grips turn the brass nubbing thin in the same way. If this doesn't work then try turning all the other rads in the house down abit in the same way. Its pos that they've all got too much water going to them yours it at the end of the circuit and the pressure hasn't got enough oomph to get that hot water up and into your rad. Have a fiddle and see what happens, just don't try and undo anything that looks like it's a pipe union or your gonna get wet.
