I need some tiling work doing and I'm struggling to get people to even call me back to give me quotes so I wanted to check if the very efficient seeming guys who actually did come back to me are in any way reasonably priced.

The quote they gave me was £400 to have the kitchen tiles removed, the walls made good and then retiled, it was about 4m2 in total.

I subsequently need about 7m2 of brick slips fitting but I've not had a quote for that yet.

And no, I don't want to attempt to do it myself!

Yeah I think that's about right though it sounds like it could be two days depending on the condition of the walls and if they need to wait for any tile backer to dry etc.

Oh good.. yeah I expect it would be a fair amount of work, the walls are all plasterboard so they'll likely be wrecked by chiseling the old ones off.

Yeah sounds pretty reasonable.

Potentially be ready for any "ooh the walls are worse than expected, it's gonna cost more" comments though.

I recently paid £36 per m2 for porcelain tiles to be laid in the kitchen, utility and toilets. Then I paid £22 per m2 for the wall tiles to be done because they were wood effect planks and it was a very easy job. This was all on a new build, so no removal of waste or backing required.
