Thought Id post this for a bit of fun and for C+C. Been playing about with using PS to mimic the effect you can get with tilt-shift lenses. Can't help think it gives a rather surreal Hornby-Railways effect to things.......

Apparently, theres a whole group devoted to this kinda stuff. Some great examples to be found, along with tutorials, at:

Linky

Comments welcome, and looking forward to seeing some other efforts.

I've been following this for the past few weeks. I learnt about it just before it exploded. The tilt-shift lens produces a really cool effect of making things look like models. The popularity grew and grew until some clever people produced tutorials on how to do it and then boom. I held off posting about it here as I was saving the effect for the competition to add impact, nuts :D

Yet something else that I just don't get at all. Think I'll file Lomo & Tilt/shift under 'Why' ;)

tilt shift do have very valid uses other than this artistic effect, such as architectural photography, where you have to take a picture of say a sky scraper, you set the plane of focus with the vertical lines of the tower, but the lens is pointing up at a 45 degree angle to fit it all in....

pretty rough example but you should get it :)

Tom.

That is so cool such a great effect. I could have sworn the first two pictures were models until I realised it was the effect it brings

I want to try it out now :D

Lovin' the boats and the hillside.....

As requested, the original from my first post for comparison below. Not the best scaling job as I/m not by my usual PC!
