Timber issue or not

I have managed to get some photos of the timber in the attic and spotted quite a few of these white marks on the rafters, some were quite bad that the entire timber was covered white. Is this this a serious issue ?

It looks like you have white mold starting, it could be efflorescence but that would usually come from some thing inorganic like brick, stone etc.

Either way it needs removing but the cause is likely to be insufficient ventilation in the roof which will also need sorting.
