Time for a new console , need help deciding

I can see this thread spiralling outta control :D

In my opinon, You have a HD TV, So HD Movies are there for you too. You have a great set of games that you've expressed interest in come out in the future.

For now you have:

Racing games on the 360
PGR 4
NFS Pro Street
NFS Carbon
NFS Most Wanted
Forza 2
Burn Out Paradise
Burn Out Revenge
Dirt
Test Drive
Stunt Man

PS3 Racing Games
Burn out Paradise
Burn Out Revenge
Motorstorm
NFS: Carbon
NFS: Pro Street
Ridge Racer 7
Dirt
Stuntman
Formula 1
GT Prologue

360 Beat em Ups
Virtua Fighter 5
Dead or Alive 4
Def Jam: ICON
Street Fighter Hyper Edition (Via XBL)
Mortal Kombat 3 (Via XBL)

PS3 beat em ups
Virtua Fighter 5
Def jam Icon
Tekken Online version

Is it worth buying a PS3 and making do with those particular games, Till the release of Tekken 6 and GT? Or is it worth getting a 360 and enjoying the games already on the market?

You can but I was thinking more about the size and ease of upgrading the PS3 hard drive. If someone was interested in watching DiVX, storing photo's and music etc then the 360's HDD can be a little limiting. Especially so if you did want to use it as a PVR.

You can use an external HDD to watch DivX's on. Or listen to MP3's. Or look at pictures.

You can also use USB sticks, iPods or external HDD's.... or you could wirelessly stream them. The PS3's upgradeable HDD only benefits the downloading of things from the PSN store, or IF you want to keep music and videos on the HDD, you don't actually need to though. Which is my point.

You also forgot Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 for 360, which I assume is relevant with you listing SF.

Pretty sure there's another NFS for the 360 as well :)

Ok fair enough.

Now Blu-Ray has come out victorious surely its a no brainer - PS3 all the way. Great value for money imo + the 360 is a bit 'Michael Bolt-on' - i.e. all the peripherals which creates clutter. Plus the 360 really is very noisy!

I will concede that the 360 has marginally better gfx at the mo - something to do with the unified shader architecture. I've seen Fifa on both platforms and it defintitely looked better on the Xbox.

But - BR-Disc + GT5 + MGS makes PS3 a real contender.

Forget about theWii. Kid's stuff imo + novelty quickly wears off.

Closing words: get a PS3 (imo of course!). Shame the cosole is so ugly - but then aren't they all. PS3 looks the worse though!

That's because it's a bad port, anything the 360 can do the PS3 can do it just takes more effort/experience from the developers standpoint.

Cell/RSX combo is probably more flexible than unified shaders.

There's plenty of decent games to keep anyone going on the PS3 at the minute and loads of good titles coming out in the future. I think the old arguement about no good games is exactly that - OLD!

I think they are both good consoles, but the inclusion of a BD player would swing it for me if I were chosing between the two right now though.

The inclusion of a BD player is good, but only if you're consistently going to buy Blu-Rays.

After having both for a long time, and I had to lose both and rebuy one, I'd take the 360 every single time purely on the basis that, for me, it has the better exclusives (and almost all ports are better, and EA Sports' will remain that way apparently) and because the control pad is the best ever (by a long way).

Honestly, Right now. I'd be doing the same as you. Buying a 360.

But I'm not interested in Gran Turismo and Tekken as for me they aren't the kind of games to buy a console for. But for this guy That's the main reason I was trying to push the PS3, As in the future, if he can make do with current games, He'll be getting his favourite games after the wait.

It also depends on whether you mind not being able to use the console half the time because it's being repaired by microsoft! :D
