hey guys

after recently upgrading my PC i figured i should upgrade my near 2 year old hdd. Not only cause its old but its incredibly noisy as well, even more so now the rest of my components are quieter, it really stands out.

I've always had noisy hdd's (as in makes a right racket when its doing stuff) so i really want a silent one, if they even exist.

I been looking at the Hitachi Deskstar T7K250, a lot of reviews i've read have said its quiet and very fast

i cant afford a raptor really, but if people really say they're good and they seem worth it i might.

So im really looking for a HDD thats:
Fast
Quiet (as silent as can be)
Reliable

obviously i understand that sometimes silence comes at the cost of speed but in that case one thats pretty good at all 3 of those requirements

many thanks

If silence is what you're after then have a look at the Samsung spinpoints, not the fastest drives (Hitachi are spot on there) but are definitely one (if not *the*) quietest drives. Best all rounder I'd say would be Seagate (with the added bonus of a 5 yr warranty). Although Hitachi are the fastest, the difference between makes of drives aren't that noticeable (except the Raptor) with only a few MB/sec in it.
