Time for a new Hard Drive

I'm getting a new drive next week and I've decided to get this on (as it is in my budget and can't really afford anything else for the time being.

Hitachi Deskstar 7K160 160GB SATA-II 8MB Cache - OEM (0Y30006)
OCUK Stock Code: HD-022-HI

I've read the reviews and they seem good. What do you lot in here think of it?

It's an excellent HDD, but it's not SATA II out of the box - you need to go to Hitachi's web site and download a utility to turn the SATA II on. And no, I don't know why that is!

Hmm...

How about this one then? I'm using a IDE Maxtor and never had any problems at all.

Will I need to enable the SataII on a Samsung SpinPoint S 160GB SATA-II 8MB Cache - OEM (HD161HJ) Stock Code: HD-049-SA as you do on the Hitachi drives?

You won't notice a difference between running at SATA150 and SATA300 speeds (current drives can't saturate a SATA150 connection let alone a 300MB/s one) so I wouldn't worry about it.
