Time for a new PSU? AX850

Recently my PC had been switching off randomly and yesterday it could not be switched on. The old paperclip&fan power test indicates the PSU has failed; the PSU makes a tiny coil whine but does not power the fans/controller.

I bought the PSU (AX850) from ocuk mid 2011 and the box states a 7year guarantee, so can RMA via ocuk or must I go directly to Corsair?

I've done all tests I can think of including using a spare PSU (not powerful enough for my PC :( ) to test the fans/controller and tried using different modular cables/sockets and powercable. If anyone can think of anything else i should do before RMA please advise. This is my first build and PSU faliure.

Does the pc power up when your spare PSU is connected? It should only use a couple of hundred watt max at idle.

I had to RMA a corsair PSU a while ago, if it's still the same you'll need to send it to the netherlands, however chat to their support team and they may be able to get the post costs covered. Mine was a 500w PSU and the postage costs would have been a quarter of the value of the PSU so a quick chat to the USA support team (skype free call if I remember correctly) got it sorted.

RMA it is. I plugged the spare PSU into the PC and it works perfectly so that pretty much confirms the AX850 is faulty. I would be tempted to run it full time on the spare, just without the GPU, but I don't want to risk it.
Cheers guys.

The AX850 arrived at the RMA place Tuesday morning and I received a shiny new AX860 wednesday afternoon. Whole process took less than a week :) . Well done Corsair.
