I just wanted to double check really...

I have a Tagan 520 PSU with..
A E6600 @ 3.2 or 3.6 when gaming, 5 HDD's, a GTX 280, 2 12 CM Case Fans, Akasa Fan Controller, UV Light and a DVD RW drive.

Now it all seems to run ok at the moment, but am I borderline safe here? cause I was thinking to myself that I was :s
Prices for these PSU's seem high which is keeping me from upgrading at the moment. (Needs to be Modular :P)

PS: Every connector is used lol, even the ones that branch into 2!

Agreed, more than enough.

I'm running atm:

Q6700 @ 3.2 ghz
6gb Ram
6 HDD's
8800GTS 512
5 80mm fans
5 USB devices
pci card ( soundblaster)
Dvd rw
cd rw

On a 2 or 3 year old ( perhaps more ) Akasa Powerplus 550w.
You have more than plenty power left I'd think, while your gpu might like power, core 2 duo's aren't really that power hungry.

Yeah I was wondering since I can't really afford an upgrade yet, but with all the connections used up (and a couple chained :P) it got me ....wondering.

Oh and those components are over 2 years old, minus the 280.

Thanks anyway, worth checking over spending needlessly. ;)

Ignore all these "YOU NEED 1000W" nutters.

You can find individual power draw for most processors and GPUs around... but the max for most normal parts is 150W CPU and 200W GPU. If you go with those limits, you're at worst-case for anything other than super-performance gear.

500W will cover most standard systems. Go to 600 if you're using more than a couple of HDDs or a high-spec GPU. 700 if you're paranoid. Anything higher is really only any use for super-builds.

I think with yours it's more a case of it not coming with enough connectors in the first place, rather than a power draw issue.

If I'm playing a game on high graphics settings it "stutters" and has restarted once on a particular game.

PSU Issue ?

I used to have a BFG 8800 GTS OC prior to the GTX 280 and had no stuttering :s
