Behold my finicky raptor.
So i booted up my pc on friday and after within afew minutes in windows it would totally freeze. Annoying.
Its been pretty hot so i popped into the bios and turned down the clocks on everything, This time, Hard drive isnt a valid boot media. The next time is restarts fine so I start copying all my irreplacables onto a network drive, which worked fine for a while, then it would freeze one reading some file and i would repeat.
So I loaded into knoppix, mounted the drive and tried copying things off, this was slightly more effective but eventually it couldnt read the disk at all.
I'm pretty sure at this point that its screwed so I just go out to prove it, Its a raptor so it has a 5 year warranty. I reformat and install windows expecting it to fail halfway through. It doesnt, But after windows installed I'm back to windows locking up or bluescreening while trying IO
I decide to give it one more go, reformat and put a fresh coat of windows, and boom. It works fine.
This annoys me because it has no good reason to, but I think fair enough. I'm not complaining
Today i put it back in the case (I took it out for examining) and it started up with the same symptoms, So i took it back out again and it is still freezing
I played with it for a while, And ive now got it placed on the floor and outside of the case at a funny angle. This seems to keep it happy, 3 hours uptime so far as opposed to 3 minutes.
I just have to be careful not to knock it with my chair
