Hi guys, I purchased the current PC I have from Overclockers 3 years ago and it still works like a dream. I got a lot of help from the forum last time before making the purchase and it was also my first ever build Which I really enjoyed with everyone's help.

This PC is now going to my brother.

I'm looking to build a 4k Gaming Machine I've already selected my monitor and peripherals and my Budget is 5k for the tower.

Can a 60fps machine be built for 4k res with this money?

Or is it possibly too early to dive into 4k?

I've also noticed there is new Intel processors coming soon is it worth waiting?

I don't think you need to spend anywhere near 5K just on the tower to get 60fps at 4K.

GPU, that's going to be the expensive part so budget on £460 > £600 depending on if you chose the R9 290 or GTX 970/980 route.

Throw in the usual parts of good quality including an i7-4790K all in all I'd be looking to spend no more than £1600 on a killer rig capable of 4K gaming.

At 5K for the build, I'd agree with some of the otehrs and basically get OcUK to build it - would be much simpler and the service is supposed to be outstanding, with a budget of 5K it's a good idea imo. You get monster overclocks with some of them too, and watercooled most likely - do you have a nice peripheral setup also? That may well be worth spending some dosh on as well if it isn't "up to scratch" so to say :D

Entirely your decision though :)

You could make a 4k capable machine for under £1500, get two or three R9 290x 8GB and a i7 + watercool it and have fun :)

He could indeed. BUT he's got 5 grand to play with, why not future proof for the next 30000 years! Unless he's doing it on finance then go for the 1500 option!

And it was more just a thing i said, i wasn't being realistic haha
