I have a pc and have been meaning to upgrade for ages but have never seem to got round todo it. Now my wife using it loads so have to finally build a new one for my tv so I can use it while she on the other one.

So I want it to play games in 4K where possible which would be on my tv which goes though my sound amp. Should I go intel or amd or does it not really matter? And any advice on specs? Thankyou

At 4K the CPU is less important so as much of the budget as possible should be allocated to the GPU.

Ideally you want atleast a 3080 / 6800XT.

If for gaming 5600x is more than adequate. Added gaming edge board as has wifi, otherwise drop to tomahawk and save £20. Same for SSD. Put a gen 4 in there but you could save £50 by dropping to SN750. No rgb on the ram(assuming you don't want it lit up like a xmas tree ifsitting next to tv and amp). Then a case(subjective) and GPU(as above).
Asus doing a cashback deal at mo so if you're not bothered about a usb-c front i/o port(if case has one), then the Asus Gaming f is another board you can look at . OCuk got it reduced to £139.99 and asus will give you £45 cashback on it too, so £94.99

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £865.86 (includes shipping: £0.00)

For 4k gaming, you'll need something powerful, so as Joxean said RTX 3080 or AMD 6800XT. Only way you going to keep to budget then is to try and get a 3080FE card @ £649(last drop was Jun 25th). You'll have to join telegram and then FE PartAlert. once a drop gets posted they only last a few mins before stock runs out. Suggest you set up an account before trying to get one during drop. Drops can happen at any time on any day mon to fri

you could get away with a 3070, but you'll prob have to turn some settings down to medium to keep the framerates up. or output at 1440p and let the tv upscale for you.

I like simulation games. And games like gta, red dead etc. My ps4 hardly gets used much. At least the pc can be upgraded when needed and that

Scratch that silver overhype gunk.
It hasn't been any top paste in long long time and bundled TIM of good coolers is equal:

Besides its has some capacitive conductivity causing problem risk, if some of it goes to wrong place.
Been a long time since i built.. I bought 2nd hand aio so need a paste.. Dont want to use liquid metal, just something that i can't screw up:), so thanks for chart.will take a look when not on my phone

For example Arctic MX-4 is basically as good.
And completely non-conductive meaning any extra pastes can't cause electrical issues.
