Time off at Christmas

I've booked off two weeks from the 24th, however it's year end and our sales guys are busy trying to close Q4 business and I'm a pre-sales guy so actually I've done nothing last week and this week my diary is empty so I'm effectively having a 4 week break. :D

I've been off since last Wednesday and I'm not back in work until 2nd January.

On Saturday, I'll be travelling halfway up the country to my parents' home with partner and 15-month-old, for a week. Usually spend Christmas there, but didn't have the opportunity last year. Looking forward to it immensely as there are 12-13 of us on Christmas day; grandparents, aunts and uncles, cousins etc, and having the little'un this year makes it more special for all.

Other than that, will be staying in for NYE. Planning to be semi-productive this week though and fire off a couple of job applications. After three and a half years in my current role, it's time to move onwards and upwards.

Finish this Friday, go back on the 2nd.

Honestly, anymore than that and I start to climb the walls - it's great whilst it lasts but I'm raring to go again after a week off.

Our intentions are to visit family, eat lots of good food (and crap, probably), watch lots of the highly rated 2018 films we missed over the year, maybe start a new TV "box set" (need to finish the US Office, we're on the final season), play plenty of video games (Smash, Rocket League, perhaps I'll pick something new up over Christmas too), catch up on some books I'm working through, lots of sleeping, drinking plenty of wine, and perhaps a little bit of - dare I say it - studying.

Working 4am-12 midday Christmas Eve, then back in 4am-12 midday Boxing Day. Same for New Years. Rock and roll.

Finish this Friday and back into work on the 7th Jan - Xmas day at brothers and nothing else planned until partner lands for the last week and then it’s escape from everyone until she flys back out to work.

Half day on Thursday then I'm off until the 3rd, going to spend it doing a mix of decluttering, gym, eating tonnes, drinking and chilling the **** out.

Absolutely hate winter and I'm used to working over the christmas period so it'll be nice to have 2 weeks to myself with no schedule for a change.

Unfortunately I don't get any time off for holidays all year - it's one big long grind - This is the only disadvantage of being retired - nothing to look forwards to. :D:D:D

Well I’m away offshore tomorrow and down for getting back on Saturday/Sunday so hopefully it’s a Christmas at home. Then just see if work gets in touch with me again over the holidays again. Not to fussed if I’m away for new year defo over hyped nowadays but I like a Christmas at home with the family when I can! Lots of food, drink and gaming:D

I finished end of November don't go back till around the 10th of Jan if I can be bothered, currently in Spain until the 23rd.. Plans are just to keep getting drunk I guess.

i get no time off at all but my 4 day weekend starts on 23rd ,got a new xcell 5/4 hooded wetsuit so will giving that some sea time burn off the nutroast ,pretty normal weekend

I've noticed some people in this thread have got a serious amount of time off over the Christmas period, what gives? Self employed? Workplace shut down? Saved loads of holiday?

I do pretty well given that I have 25 days annual leave every year, but even then I have to be careful with my holiday.

I work all normal weekdays between Xmas and NYE as the office is dead, I do pretty much nothing, and get paid for it.

Also means I get to use my leave days for more important things. :D

More or less this. Working between the bank holidays, but then I always book at least 2nd of Jan off as well. I hate coming back on the 2nd with a passion... it's way too soon after NYD! We should adopt Scotland's bank holiday where they get 1st + 2nd off.
