In regards to games like Left 4 Dead, and Team fortress 2, they might not be crammed with content and story lines. But surely if you get over 20-30hrs fun out of it. Then its gotta be a good buy even at 30 quid?

Ive bought numerous over the years that only really got played for a couple of hours.

Mainly aimed at the people who slate games in this veign, why do you feel so negative towards these buys? :)

beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

for example, i call COH Gold a bargin, but thats because ive played over 1000 online games over a 12month period of time and only spent £12.99 doing it...

on the other hand, friends who bought the same game and couldnt get into it, well the £12.99 was wasted...

and then i bought PES2008 PS3, ive played it probably less than 20x times all told so thats £30 wasted right there...

Bought Counter Strike Source a couple years ago for £10... over 2000 hours and still going strong :D

Playing time is very important to me tbh, I don't get people who for example buy cod4 and only play sp, imo that's a real waste of money...

Short games may be worth money, but they must really be masterpieces if they're short.

Civ4 complete: 10 euros buy.

Played warlord 50 hrs.
Played BTS 167hrs.
0,046082949308755760368663594470046 euros per hour.
Not bad I guess.

Some ranked server revenue goes back to EA I think, hence their 1.5 patch is aiming to solve bugs and hacks 3 and a half years after release which is fairly exceptional support

Half-Life has to be the best bang-for-my-buck purchase I have ever made.

The best ever single player game, and countless more 1000's of hours on MOD's (especially CS). That is real value for money.

i bought l4d for 30quid on release day and ive played over a 100 hours so far and im still loving it, i cant get enough of smashing zombie faces in or catching a survivor on his own n ripping him to shreds, too much fun.

but half life 2 gold pack back on release was probably my money best spent, 1000's of hours spread across each of the games, css hl2 dod:s and then theres mods ontop. seriously best bang for buck.

red alert 1+2 - £dunno - completed both like 7 times each
CS - £10 - ~2500 hours played
Guild wars (just first one) - £30 - 1600 hours played
WoW - only paid £10 so far - ~200 hours.

i apparently like to get value for money.

imo...

TF2>L4D

in gameplay and value for money

i can't see myself getting bored with TF2 and the seamingly endless updates/improvements are astounding :)

i'd happily pay £50 now towards TF3 if they were to announce it
