Fitted 2x Eagle F1 GS-D3 1000 miles ago.

Completely worn down on both outside edges, took it to the garage and had full laser allignment done, the allignment/toe in was absolutely miles out :(

Basically the front wheels were like this...

/ \

instead of..

| |

Which ruined the tyres.

(Edit: Thats not camber btw, thats like... a birds eye view on how the wheels were I guess :p)

Time to buy more :(

I will have spent £660 on Eagle F1's since September 2004, doh.

Ouch. Sure it's not cheese sidewalls that are the problem? :D

ROFL Some people recommend getting the alignment check done once a year or so especially if you have hit a few potholes etc. A degree or two of negative camber helps cornering

Why does the alignment 'go' on new cars? I've naver had to get the tracking done on any of mine after it was first set. Makes me wonder if the spanner monkey in the garage actually did it up properly

Mine gets caned every time there is the slightest bump or hole too.

Bummer :(

I always keep a close eye on my tyre wear.

Can I be anal and say - If the outside edges have worn badly then surely they were like this... \ / ? Unless it's the inside edges that have worn? That's what I would have thought anyway, unless I'm wrong?

Perhaps its because some cars have some adjustment on the arms and some dont

edit: apologies I didnt read Foxes post properly and thought his diagram meant he was running negative camber not toe in

Fox - you go through tyres quicker than an F1 grid :p

It's all those burnouts at McDonalds carparks that do it. I've seen him with his Big Mac in hand, trays under the rear wheels doing donuts around the carpark

Christ!

I'd seriously consider using something a little less "performance" and much longer lasting if i was you. Michelin cant be faulted for great all round performance and long lasting ness....certainly better than the F1's and as its hardly a perfomance car youll be hard pushed to notice the difference!

They only wore out so quickly because of the alignment was out. I have F1s and have done 10k miles on them and reckon I'll get another 4-5k out of them.

I have had 13-14k out of mine still loads of tread left and thats on the front wheels with lots of wheelspin starts.

That says maybe BUT most people say they get under 10K from them, and even 15K isnt much really. I've had Michelin Pilot Sports last me for over 30K of hard driving....you cant argue with that for a tyre of similar price!

When you say completely worn down do you mean completely?

Didn't you get concerned when they were 1/2 worn compared to the rest of the tyre?

Could have sorted it yourself with a few bits of wood and string ;)

I'm dreading the end of this month, four new tyres, going to have the alignment checked/done also. Time to change the oil too.. damn this is gonna be expensive.
since on the topic of tyres, recommendations? I think I need 215/45/17

Cheers
