Time to buy more tyres

I call BS. I bet the alignment wasn't out at all. ;) :p

Elaborate plot to shy us away from the cheese tyre theory. :D

The truth is out there.

To everyone saying not to buy the Goodyears, why skimp on something as important as tyres even if it is only a mondeo with average performance?

Currently I am banging around on a set of Dunlop Sport Sp01's for fronts and P6000's on the rear.

I never read a review of the Dunlops but I got them because they were fairly expensive and made by Dunlop, so they weren't going to be rubbish.

I admit that in the wet they may not be as good as the F1's, but coming from a set of Stunner Torneo's any problems I do encounter are now well within my skill level to sort out. Going out in the rain with those things was like rolling a dice for your life.

Edit: Plus point of Dunlops, they don't have ' *** sidewallz of cheese OMG 11111!!11oneoenene!!' :o

In fairness the only suggestions other than F1's have been top of the range Michelins - hardly skimping!! My passat (now sold) and my GF's megan are both running on full sets of the Dunlop Sport SP01's and i found them to be excellent in both wet and dry :)

Has anyone used pirelli p6000's before? I picked up a set of cheap ford alloys for the escort and they those tyres on the rims. All in really good condition as well. Lots of thread left

P6000's seem to last a long time. I HATE my P6000's but after 10k they are still fine :(.

Your thread reminds me that I seriously need to get my wheels realigned.

Not if you have to raise and lower the car. ;)
Why do you need to raise and lower it? Toe should be set with the vehicle at ride height. I'm sure you know about bump steer.

I mean raising and lowering to get at the tie rods to adjust them.

yes they suck, burn them. have no wet grip at all and are noisy with a hard ride.

Thought so, need to make sure that the bar is perfectly horizontal really though, thats why axle stands come in handy, looks wonky with the tape. You need the horizontal distances between the strings at each end to be identical. A good trick to remove tyre stiction is to put the wheels on two sheets of metal with a layer of oil in between.

Fox you need some Avon ZZ3s ;) They last forever.

Would you say the pirelli's are bad tyres?

You could do a lot worse. I have them on my Focus and find them pretty good in the dry, could be a lot better in the wet though and they have quite high levels of road noise.

Many moons ago (well about 6 years) i had some Michelin Pilots on my 205GTi that lasted AGES.

No wonder really they didnt do anything in the wet, other than AID lift off oversteer.

Never pirouetted so much in my life :D

I took the pics before it was all setup accurately.

Seems a bit steep...?
I had mine checked and adjusted for £0, last time.

Full front and rear laser allignment. It took them enough time so I don't see why they'd work completely for free!

Has anyone here tried Fulda tires

I'm due a full geo on my next service though I may be going for Nitrons so it will be a very special geo

What are nitrons? :o
