Heard a lot of comments from guys here about big power skylines being nasty to drive as they have no bottom end, well this afternoon I went out in an 700bhp skyline R32 GT-R converted to big single turbo with Nitrous system and lots of other mods... the 700bhp is sans nitrous!

Now I have been in some fast cars in my time, but this thing was a total monster...

As soon as you touched the throttle it surged forwards, even turning the boost down the car remained responsive to drive in tall gears, although the whine from the straight cut quaiffe box was distracting to say the least.. lol..

The grip levels were incredible, but with some coaxing you could kick the back end out for a bit of fun.. hehe

Anyway, the long and short of it, is this guy is gonna build one up for me as soon as I can find a suitable import car in japan...

I am thinking this might be a good starting platform...

Just gotta sell my 7 now..

:D

high power skylines are indeed lush, but to get them to that level of tune costs sooo much money, a JUN fag lighter is a grand :p

the lower output cars are really quite heavy, and whilst sporting 400 WTFBHP its delivery is usually well into the turbos song and before that not a lot happens, dont get me wrong they are lush cars but dont expect a 400hp skyline to set your world on fire because they generally dont.

Yea, thing you have to remember tho is where it makes that power and if it's feasible or not to actually get up there to use it.....great if it does make 650 but if it's at 9000...well, you're never going to touch it :D

I'd like to see a rolling road printout and then think about it, if you want one as flexible as the ride you had :)

yup ive been in a 750bhp+ skyline complete with 2835's and an hks 6 speed box and tbh you dont ever want for torque :D reason i didnt actually buy it was more a case of insurance and running costs and it aint really an everday car and also when something goes wrong its gonna be expensive!i actually didnt realise how easy a car with that power would be to drive!!it idled well and was easy enough to drive slowly and not too laggy but there was always the temptation to floor it everywhere and it would go from 60-100mph in like 3 seconds  and keep going well into the high hundrens so i dont think my licence would last long.i think liners are best with about 500-600bhp max as a road car.the one i drove was an r32 aswell and imo its the best of the skylines :)

yeah I would agree, it had gob loads of torque even below boost level, the lag wasnt in anyway bad, but when the boost came on it was a monster...

The car I was in had the boost virtually turned off,and it was quick then..

Once he dialed in the boost I was amazed at how fast it accelerated and braked for such a big car...

He said 1500kg's which is pretty heavy, but I never felt unsafe, no tyre squealing drama... was very impressed...

Something really cool about the r32 as well.... you can switch it into rwd only... while you are moving, and then when you stop, it comes back into 4wd.. Good for rwd drift action... cant do it with the 33 and 34...

The sad part was at the end of the run, the big ends started knocking, so we pulled over and he called his mate for a pickup..

Said it had done 3 years since last big end rebuild, so he wasnt dissappointed... he said he drove it everywhere like he did with me in the car... which is scary.. dunno how he has kept his licence.. lol

Oh and he drag races it as well.. drag races here in Cyprus are pretty much all jap cars, with a few tuned euros filling in the gaps...

His business is performance tuning, performance rebuilds, guess you could call him the norris of cyprus... Had a nice R34 GT-T with RB26DETT onboard.. was a customers drift car, along with some other nice sylvias etc...

Hi daily driver is a nissan primera with a turbo'd SR20..

:D

Sure you can. With a nifty gadget you can set it full time RWD or set the power as you wish full time.

Or you could do what someone in my college tutor did. At 17 he said he owned a escort cosworth, spent over £100k on mods and got it to 900bhp. :o

He works in halfords..

He said? Or did?

He said. I'm not even going to aproach him about it, i know it's complete bs :p He's the kinda person that lies way too much, and everyone knows to take what he says with a pinch of salt.. or a rather large handful sometimes.

good to see the fact it's IMPOSSIBLE to spend that kinda money on an Ace didn't get in the way of his story.
next time you see him in passing stop, smile, then look deep into his eyes and say FOOL before walking away.

nice to hear you've found out something that a select few have always known.
if tuned PROPERLY they are unbelievable and the fact you're even considering selling your seven will show anyone that knows how much you love the thing exactly how impressed you've become with the liner.

Where does the drag racing happen, maybe able to get myself to one when im over next. Although the car i drive over there is in a pretty laughable state (mazda 626 estate with dents and scratchs and the interior is even worse :p )

Did some research on this, and all I could find was a device that could reduce the amount sent to the back wheels and send more to the front..

It wasnt able to reduce the amount of torque sent to the front by the standard controller...

Do you know of a specific device you can point me at that is able to switch the front off completely and make it rwd?

With the r32 you can switch the front off completely by switching one wire in the controller circuit.. Once the car comes to a standstill tho, it switches back to 4wd..
