Time to replace car?

Looking for some advice. I currently have a Peugeot 207 1.2 S, which is 8 years old and has 75k miles on it. I've had a new clutch and cambelt fitted in the last year, however after a service it has been revealed that the coolant has oil in it and the gearbox is rattling, which from what I understand can be rather costly to replace/repair.

Is it time to bite the bullet and look for a new car? I probably have around £3k I could spend + whatever part exchange I could get.

Thanks

It's not a 1.2. But it's probably a 1.4, and probably the horrible wheezy gutless 8-valve unit. Head gasket failure is not too uncommon on those.

I hate those cars so yeah I'd get rid of it :D.

It's a Peugeot. Your lucky to have got more than 3 years out of it without it exploding and/or setting on fire from the horrendously bad electricals :P

One of the worst cars I have ever driven by any possible measure - get rid

Ironically the 208 is much, much better but out of your price range. Lots of decent small cars around for £3-3.5k though

Looks like I'll be viewing some cars soon then. I'm guessing for my budget I'll be best to look at fiestas? I generally do about 40 miles a day for work.

Decent little cars though to be quite honest I haven't been impressed by some of the minor issues ours has had. Almost all related to some.of the additional titanium kit though.

You could do worse than look at a size up too as you tend to get a little more for the money.

If your intent is just to get as new a car as possible in fiesta size you could do worse than look at the Rio, though he fiesta, polo and Clio are all more likeable
