Playing with not a huge budget here, i ideally don't want to spend over £200. Looking for something that can beat the performance of my faithful 4890. Is there anything substantially better than this card, for the price?

Thanks in advanced :D

You could get a 270X which would be a big upgrade over your 4890. The best 270X, fastest with the best cooler and a good overclocker would be this one. Comes with four free games as well.

Or if you don't want to spend quite so much you could get this one. A bit cheaper than the other one but does come with a copy of BF4, + a tool kit + four free games. The cooler is a bit louder and it might not overclock as well but still a solid card.

Not sure if this helps, considering your budget and all, if not ignore me. If you were able to pay for a new gpu, and then sell your 4890 (Don't know how much you would get) to pay towards, then an r9 280x isn't too far out of reach, but an even bigger upgrade. The higher up you go, the more bang you get for your buck, and the r9 270x, whilst a stellar option, spending a little extra can get you disproportionately more performance.

If you can stretch the budget to £245-£260 then a 280X would be a good choice.

its okay going for higher cards to get best bang for buck but if your 4890 was coupled with a core 2 duo E6400 or whatever than its going to be bottlenecked.

State the resolution you game at.
Show us the CPU/RAM/PSU you are using.

Then we can give you a more educated guess.

At this moment a 270X would probably be the best bet.

When are prices expected to go down again? I wouldve thought the closer to xmas we get prices to drop but seems to be otherwise
