Time to swap adsl ISP

Hi All,

My m8 is on tiscali but is fedup of poor speed, disconnects and service not being available. He wants to change ISP's (any recommendations would be good - gaming only not worried about download limits etc) but is worried he will be without a connection for weeks while they change over.

So how long does it usually take?

I'm with Tiscali/Pipex too and have had poor speeds for the last week. However, called support and they told me to change the MTU value via my router to 1492. I'm now dowloading at full speed again. Worth a try?

It is issued by your broadband provider and is used to seamlessly switch from one provider to another without having to wait weeks to cease your line and re-register with another provider.

I switched from BT to BE almost a year ago. I was down for only a couple hours. AFAIK though, it's usually only a few minutes.

Migrations between IPStream ISPs usually take minutes, migrations to LLU providers (Be, Bulldog, TalkTalk et al) take longer because there's a manual process involved.

I'd recommend ADSL24 too, was a good service for me.............Then I seen the 'light' and went to Be*
