Hi my pc spec is C2D 6300x2 @ 3.25.ghz, 2gb Corsair twinx 6400 C4 @465 , Hyper 580 R psu, Gigabyte Ds3 ,Ati xt1800 ,19" iiyama crt, x2 320gb sata 2 seagate.Am going to be getting a new graphics card i be ordering it the night but am not sure on which one to get,ive spent the last few days going through the forums, reading about this http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-059-BG and this http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-099-XF&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=877
am not sure on which one,ive seen on here that the gtx aint as good as the gts on lower rez i mainy use 1024x768 for gaming, what i want is to get high fps and everything on max,as my xt1800 is struggling away at cod4 everything is good till there a lot of smoke and airstrikes happening and it drops to 20 to 30 fps and is very laggy,i will probally up the rez once i get new card, the gtx says it needs 2 6pin for the power even thou the psu says it can do sli i only got 1 6pin connection,do you get one with the gtx?
would like to now which i should get as there aint much in price diff.

i say get the GTX even at your res, because with a CRT, you may feel like turning the Res up one day. as for do you get a molex to 6 pin pcie conenctor with the card, im not sure. or get a 8800GT if you dont want to change resoltions unless your monitor dies

i thought the above card was slower than the new 92 cores the dosh aint the prob just want the best performance, with my current setup.

the 8800gts linked above are slower but it wont make that much of a difference at your res, until game developers cripple the card

1024x768 I'd just get a GT lol, if you decided to you 1280x1024 too then 8800GT would be a good buy or GTS 512.

8800GT for 1440x900 with max AA/AF.

8800GTS 512mb for 1680x1050 with max AA/AF.

8800GTX for 1920x1200+ with max AA/AF.

These are my recommendations for the resolutions. I wouldn't buy the 640Mb GTS as even though it's a great price the only G80 I would buy is the 8800GTX. Anything else would be G92.

i did have a 22" samy pebble a few months ago, and sold it after 3 days dont like widescreen for games couldn`t get used to it. :P

Aye me too. I bought a 22" LCD screen and hated the widescreen, plus it was too slow even at 5ms for online FPS games like Call of Duty. I sold it to a mate for £30 after paying £220 for it from here as I really disliked it. I only had it 2 months. Anyway, I bought myself a 22" CRT http://www.viewsonic.com/support/desktopdisplays/crtmonitors/proseries/p225f/. It may be ugly and big but wow, what a screen for gaming. If I ran Vsync @ 2048x1536 I would have to have a graphics that could run at 79 FPS to not get take the vsync droop.

Have a look out for a decent CRT second hand as I think you'd enjoy that the most. Also, if you are going to be capable of high resolutions then the 8800GTX would be best suited for that.

It all depends on the time between your upgrades. If don't upgrade frequently ie every quater or so then go for the gt but i pesonally think that GTX ats its current price is a steal even if its old tech. Its been ages since the old cards have been better than the new ones in terms of performance and specification.

Well this is what I everyone is saying at this solution and at that solution you shout get this card and that card and I'm glad I went for an 8800GTX even I "only" play at 1440x900. At 1440x900 with AA/AF set to 16/16 (in NVCP), in some maps and heavy fighting scenes COD4 runs like a dog, if you have the money always go for the fastest card you can afford (hint ... hint ... 8800GTX). People can disagree but that's my personal experience, with AA/AF cranked up to max even the fastest card struggle at lower resolutions let alone the higher ones.

Good point but you can get amazing IQ with 4xAA or even 8xAA. The 8800GTX has the best bandwidth for those who force 16xAA but with there being no need for that amount of work to be done on your graphics card with no real difference after 8xaa I stand by my suggestions as 4xAA is good enough for the majority I feel. I don't base my opinions on my own use but what I see as the general opinion.

the cheapest 8800gt will suit you fine, but definitely get rid of that hyper psu. they have a nasty habit of going boom and taking other major components with them

8800Gt will be a better option and cheaper to replace when that timebomb of a PSU goes BANG !

Iv been running my sig spec for over a year now, and iv had this psu in the system i had befor, got this psu since about a month after it came out and its not put a foot wrong yet

I got the psu when it came out never had a problem with it, touch wood lolz, anyways thanks for letting me know about the cards ive just ordered the gtx ,i will probally use 1600x1200.Will get another montior but it wont be a widescreen :P,got a 1080p projector with 100" screen ill try it on that see what like it is then.
