Wondering if its time to upgrade?

My current setup:

i5-2500k
Z68AP-D3
8GB DDR3 - Not sure of brand etc!
7870XT

Was thinking of upgrading to the G1.Sniper Z87 and the 4670K. Not sure what RAM, something thats maybe a little more 'future proof' than my current setup.

Use the machine for Gaming mostly, bit of video encoding etc.

Any thoughts?...

There really isn't much benefit in going up to a 4670K over what you have, despite what some people tell you. The 2500K is still an awesome CPU. If I had the money I'd invest in a better GPU ir maybe an SSD (if you don't have one), although the GPU you have is still good enough for most games (unless you're playing in silly high resolutions)

Pick any one of the benchmarks from this site and see for yourself.

As above. The 2500k is a great CPU especially when overclocked. You're not going to get a bang for buck performance gain by replacing it yet. Upgrade your GPU instead and sit back and marvel in your high FPS goodness. :)

I own the 4670k , it's a fine piece of intel processor ness , lol but being perfectly honest if you can get the 2500k at or upto 4.6ghz then your going to see equil performance to most mildly clocked 4670k 's anyway. So wouldn't worry too much at this stage.
Maybe another 7870 crossfire ,, ssd,, and a nice OC.

I would just get a 280X and call it a day. I would 1/2 gens and then upgrade to an i7 model if your do a lot of video editing, the gains you get now for the price just isn't worth it.

I do currently have an SSD, and 2 HDD drives too.

The 7870XT was the last thing i bought for this!

What GPU would you guys suggest? 280X, anything from the Nvidia crew?

What's peoples thoughts on the XFX version of the 280x?

Currently on offer on another site at 238.

Also considering the Gigabyte Battlefield 4 edition.

Is the sapphire toxic the best out the lot? hence why its not available anywhere
