Time Travel:

Time travel just isn't possible. In theory, only travelling backwards in time is possible, because the future hasn't happened yet, and if it had, and time travel was possible, we'd see people from the future coming back (and possibly warning us about events such as 9/11 and Japan).

However, if travelling back in time is possible, ergo, travelling forward in time must be possible, otherwise you wouldn't be able to get back to the future if you travelled back in time.

Got it?

watch the Stephen Hawkins - Time travel episode, he actually says its impossible to travel back in time but not forward!

i cant be bothered explaining why (from what i remember) as i've just woke up but watch it and you'll understand!

I thought it was the other way round, travelling forward is possible backwards is impossible. Idea being if you travel fast enough (close to the speed of light) then time slows for you relative to everything else. So when you slow back to normal speed you are in the future.

Wouldn't the first thing a physics professor who invented sending messages back in time to do is send back all latest physics theory and therefeor create a infinite loop advancing our knowledge of physics forwards hundreds of years in the space of a day...

If he did then i believe that would create a off-shoot dimension and an Earth would develop where they got the info early, our own past is locked down in one dimension. Any contact with the pass will be a copy of our past in another dimension

No it's the other way round, you can go forward but not back, it's a one way trip

So if this theory turns out to be 'doable' sending messages back and forth through time?

?

But that would be a paradox, as i could send back a message to tell someone to kill someones mother before she gave birth to the person.

The person would never be born, and therefore how could i send a message to kill the persons mother?

Your own time line would cease and an alternative timeline would be produced.

Obviously :p

It's cute to see people trying to theorise travelling back in time when it's impossible in this dimension. :p

Maybe one day we will uncover another time line and alter it like gods playing with toys. But really it's just "theory" and will never happen.

How about creating a wormhole, send one end of the worm hole round the galaxy at the speed of light and return it to earth.

You can now travel back and forth in time as much as you want. But you can only travel between the points in time the ends of the worm hole occupy.

Now if you travel to the past and spend time there, the same amount of time will have passed in the future when you return.:confused::confused:

Westie was actually saying the same thing but the way he phrased it made it more confusing.
He's saying that Hawking said that it's impossible to go back, but not impossible to go forwards.

Flux Capacitor + 88 Mph = Time travel

If you really wanted to know if you invented time travel in the future then simply write down on a piece of paper what the date and time would be in say 5 minutes then wait to see if your future self appears.

You would have to carry this piece of paper with you or keep it safe for when you use your time machine.

I bet in a weeks time you would already have lost it for forgotten.
