timekeeping/advice

Tbh the company or just your manager sounds abit anal with timekeeping by the minute unless you have a really time critical job.

If i were running a non time critical business, it would probably be one of my last concerns if staff were late and stuff as long as they worked same hours they were paid for, for all i care if they hit their productivity targets i wouldn't care if they only worked 2hrs a day tbh.

I have been in a few places where they make a big deal of being a few mins late and ignore it if you do free overtime etc.

The places that do this seem to be the same places where if you turn up on time you can just stand around making tea for 30mins then talk all day and never do a full days work and this is all ok with the boss, as long as you aren't 1 minute late in the morning lol.

Much more important to look at total productivity and quality of work than who happens to be sitting at their desk the longest.

But you are not just 1min late though are you? You are walking into the office 1min late, how much later is it before you actually start working? My employer expects me to be ready to work when my shift starts.

Regardless, I suspect the reason that your 1min lateness has been noticed is that your boss is monitoring your timekeeping following the warning. To be expected really, and I can't work out why, having noticed that, you would cut it so fine the second time.

Explain during the situation with your dad during the next meeting if you haven't already. There may be something your employer can do to help you and resolve your timekeeping issue
