PS
Cat deterrent and not 5G. Cats sleep on the roof of both cars causing some neighbourhood strife :D
Interesting solution though

You ever seen a cat wake up? They stretch out fully clawed. Not what you want on the paintwork.

No way cats claws can scratch paintwork - not properly cared for/waxed paintwork at least.

Plus as it's a convertible, those "just woke up" cat claws near fabric too!

Ah yes, I imagine fabric softop could be an issue.

In primary school my 'friend' once stuck a drawing pin in a soft top car. The chap got out and shook him in anger.

Not just the claws, if a soft top is anything like our patio set cover, the fur coating is a pain in the behind and that's from my own cat using it as a glorified hammock. I assume other cats take advantage.

If it was to stop cats why not just cover it with a blanket or something?

The amount of effort to lay "tin foil" over that is mindboggling. Does it actually work? I thought a nice hot surface would encourage them more, at least the blanket would offer protection.

Tbf though, if it is because it is leaking, that is a genius solution. Super simple and quick to do. Much prettier than a tarp. And I bet he gets great DAB reception.

I think it works similar to putting empty pop bottles filled with water round the garden. Cats tend to not be able to settle or take a dump when something round them is moving. Light reflecting off surfaces at differing angles makes them think something is moving nearby.

Cats claws can definitely damage paintwork. A friend purchased a brand new car and the day after one of the neighbours cats was asleep in top of his new car, another cat rocked up and startled the sleeping cat, it jumped up and ran off. His roof was scratched to hell and had to have the clearcoat redone.

A cat we used to have hated the sound of tin foil rattling when we were using it in the kitchen.
