so i absolutely love these (boneless skinless in oil :D), is there anywhere that sells ones bigger than the 125g/90g drained weight tins?

and is there anywhere you can buy in bulk, try and get them in lidl when they on offer for about 50p, otherwise its asda for about 70p a tin, but would be ncie to get a big box full lol

My son eats the ones in tomato sauce, the tesco ones seem to be the only ones I have found that state boneless. The better makes used to but I can't see it on the tins anymore?

It's because they aren't boneless, and you don't want boneless. They are cooked sealed in the can for sufficient time for the bones to be edible. Which also provides great nutrient from the bones you would otherwise miss.

As to bulk no idea, first try would be amazon it's where I bulk buy hot sauce from.

Princes do 190g tins but they carry a premium.

These ones are nice:

They did Mexican/BBQ which were amazing but discontinued now :(

None of the above are 'cheap' on the tinned mackerel scale though.

The Mexican flavoured mackerel was amazing. Only recently started eating mackerel, goes well with Uncle Bens rice, or cous cous.

I go for sardines in oil. Must get through 3 to 5 tins a week. Cheaper than mackerel, only 40p ish.

i find the sardines very tasteless and the texture less nice.

the makeral though i find delicious.

i have a can each day in work :D

ah fair enough all i know is i can chew them hapily without getting stabbed to death by bones :p

Yep, I love all things BBQ so I was on cloud 9! should have got more while they lasted.

Now it's just the Moroccan and Indian ones left. Bah.

Princess Mackerel in Spicy Tomato Sauce on toast is my favourite. I usually stock up when someone has them on offer.

Yeah, texture varies even with the same brand. Sometimes nice and firm, sometimes squishy and crap - mackerel does seem more consistent.

I eat them dipped in Who Dares Burns hot chilli sauce, so don't really notice a lack of flavour :D

I believe they contain less heavy metal, sardines, as they're lower on the food chain. If that's of any concern.

i think they're both deep water enough that they tend not to pick up much from pollution, least that's what the advice was for feeding fish to cats lol.

ASDA's finest sardines are pretty nice. The Princes smoked mackerel fillets are my favourite, although they are probably less healthy.

I have been mackerel for breakfast for the past 2-3 years - I did try the tinned stuff and it really was surprisingly good. I think it is cheaper to buy the tinned stuff than the smoked stuff (which is what I buy).

Makro/Costco would probably be a good bet.
