Tints... are they chav?

So, the quest for modding ideas continues

As title really, pondering over the idea to get tints. Nothing mega dark, but just a light smoke all round. I don't like cars that have limo tints at the back and light smoke at the front... that just looks wrong.

So, what do you guys think of tints?

On a £50k beemer, I'd say go for it. On a £500 rover, nah.

I think it depends on a.) the car and b.) how dark you go. Dark tints look stupid!

Last week, I test drove a BMW 525i with tinted windows, in black.

Never have I felt more of a plank.

Tints = no.

Also i think it looks stupid when the rears are darker then the fronts.

I would say if done badly with that awful film from Halfrauds that results in one corner peeling off and more bubbles than a greek restaurant - then I would say yes.

If its done properly with glass dye by a professional and its not jet black or that dodgy silver some cars have then I would say its OK.

I'd like the rear windows on mine darkened, but its mostly to act as a sun shade for my daugther - those window shade things are pretty uselss during the summer months imo.

Tints are not chav.

Tints that are silver, red, or ultra dark to the fact they are illegal are chav.

A subtle tint looks ok IMHO. Depends largely on the car, and I think it would suit yours quite well. On the other hand who cares what anyone else thinks, it's your car.

Tints are only suitable in a huge Mecerdes E190 with a drug baron inside it.

I quite like light to medium tints.

I even like the look of cars that have had very dark smoked tints but they are always very dark inside because of it and I wouldn't like to try driving them.
