Anybody heard of it or used it? I thought that DSL was the smallest quickest distro out there... until i found this:

http://www.tinycorelinux.com/

Which is basically a fifth of the size of DSL. Could even boot faster than Express Gate. Looks good, i'll give it a go when i get my DVD drive plugged in. There's also the 7MB Micro Core, which as far as i can tell is the same but without the Window Manager... not sure how that works exactly, but it does look amazingly fast. Discuss.

Ooooh looks good - going to give it a bash on an old PII :)

Don't know if I can do without apt-get though, though I guess the point in the system is to do away with huge local repo's.

(I realise that they do have their own package manager)

EDIT: Wonder what hardware support is like... I've got a P300MMX/64MB RAM Sony Vaio laptop running Lenny (currently has 16MB free :o :))

Looks like a kernel with almost everything ripped out, and a couple of programs included. Not sure how much use that is really, what hardware do you have in mind?

You're missing the point. It's not going to be your main OS (unless you have really old hardware). It's going to be used when you don't want to boot it up just to check your email or something else. I'd imagine it would be quite impressive on the speed though.
