Hi all,

It's my first post so be gentle ;)

I am looking ostensibly for a gaming PC, Windows 7 with dual monitor support. Nothing Xtreme but good enough to play Dead Space 3 and Strike Suit Zero.

The thing is that I'd like it in as small a case as possible as it is to be hung beneath a desk, I've seen some of the cases on the OC store:

...but I guess I would lose the dual monitor support? I need a pointer to get going.

Regards,
Kevin

hi Kevin

Welcome to the forums

moved to GH so you can get some feedback and suggestions from the whole forum

I contacted OverClockers by Web Contact Form a week or so ago, then rang and spoke to Ashley. I emailed him a spec and then finally posted on the OC forums.

I haven't had a single response, apart from moving my post to another area in order to get more feedback.

Not good Customer Service.

your asking a very particular build, what is your budget? also does the pc have to fit inside that case, if it does i am pretty sure you wont be able to get a decent graphics card into it there are small cases that you can get which will fit a 2 slot graphics card which will allow you to play games at decent graphics setting with dual monitor setup. Btw this isn't customer service this is the public forums, as per your email i assume it has just been overlooked generally overclockers are very good with customer service.

hm... after further research you have to use an external power pack like the ones you find on a laptop. this means you cant even fit a graphics card in and you will have to use a system where the graphics card is build into the cpu. this basically limits what you will be able to do with the system. Also the cooling system required large amounts of setup. a build in that case "Can" be done but it would be difficult to setup and also you would be limited to what you would get out of it.

A richland/trinity build you be the best you'd get. Can still be good but i don't know how the cooling on those cases work. I know other cases from that brand have specific cooling addtional extra's (fanless cooling)

Then the limitation is the power, as above. You can get enough power for an A10 richland but that would be pushing the limits...

If you can drop dual screen support, i would, saves you a lot of hassle.

Can you go any big height wise with the case? Any others in mind..

By the way there is nothing wrong with the customer service, they can't deal with every request and one like this is best suited to public idea's rather than the in-house team..

Sending you here rather than just ignoring you is actually a good thing..

actually look at a power calculator you would literally just be able to run an amd trinity and 1 hard drive however the power supply calculator says 144w minimum and 194 recommended so again it would be pushing it and you would be able to add a dvd drive or ssd

You will find it very hard to get a pc to do the things you want in the space you want, you could buy a gaming laptop but their pricey so you have two choices.

1/ buy a gaming laptop
2/ Re think your room/desk and positioning of tower and buy a real comp that will suite your needs.

you do not have to go huge for a gaming case thinks like

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-074-BX&groupid=2362&catid=1850

are not huge but you can build a good system in them.

but to build something that can game at the kind of specs you want in the case you want wont happen.

I run mine in an SG05, nice little case and you can run a powerful setup, putting it together takes a little effort though and make sure you check GPU lengths as quite a few wont fit.

7850 or a 670 will fit, there the only ones i looked at so not sure what else will fit in, to the best of my knowledge this is as small as you can go and still run a propper GPU.

Why is everyone recommending or suggesting the top end Richland/Trinity Cpu, when the recommended Cpu wattage is 65.

Cooling: Passive Heatpipe Solution – Recommended CPU Thermal Design Power: 65W
