Tip: Cleaning dust filters

Surely if you use a brush all you are doing is brushing the dust to somewhere else where as a hoover sucks it all up? I spose you could be brushing it into a bin but dust is light and floats about.

Tried both brush (soft painting brush) and vacuum. The best thing to use is both, whether you're cleaning filters or any other dust from elsewhere.

Loosen the dust off with the brush and vacuum the rest out.

So ... why is a vacuum cleaner so bad?

I usually take the filter out, vacuum the dust off, give it a rinse, let it dry, then pop it back in.

run them under the hot water tap then stick them on the windowsill to dry for 10 minutes or so

why would you do anything else?

in fact i reckon the op has shares in the online shop he's linking to, its not even a decent brush :(

A kitten dies every time someone uses a vacuum to clean a dust filter.

Good, I hate cats. :D

But seriously there's nothing wrong with a vacuum cleaner to suck the dust of my wire mesh filters, it's quicker and seeing as I vacuum around the PC two or three times a week it seems logical to do it at the same time. A brush just flicks the dust all over the place and because I never bother to remove the doors off the case it tends to go inside my PC.
