Hey iv read though the guides on overclocking on different sites and here but i just want some advice first hand, iv heard my CPU is a decent overclocker.
heres my system:
Current System:
Processor: E8500 Duo 3.16GHz OC'ed to 3.8GHz
CPU Cooler: Akasa AK-CCX-4002HP Venom
Memory: 4094MB RAM 1033MHZ Kingston
Hard Drive: 500 GB
Video Card: Zotac GTX 470
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit
Motherboard: P5QL Pro Asus
Computer Case: NZXT Alpha
PSU: 550W Corsair
System idles around 35 degrees
but isnt stable and fails prime and OCCT tests (not enough vcore?)
only things iv changed are the bios setting i was told to disable
and the FSB to 400 (anything higher and i BSOD)
while the vcore being on auto (bad idea?)
this gives me 3.8GHz (fails tests), i would be really happy if i could hit 4GHz (iv seen e8500's hit 4.5GHz)
should i raise the vcore or?
the ram is set to 1:1
pretty knew to this so help would be great currently at work so information is limited but would love some direction.
thanks for your time
