Tips for working in a call centre

Starting a new job tomorrow, in this financial climate it's get a job, then look for better so anyhoo I'm into a call centre tomorrow

Having never done this type of work before....

Any tips?
 
Just be polite and try to stay calm. There are idiots in the world who will test your patience.
 
develop a thick skin very very quickly.

don't take things personally.

when your shift ends, don't take the job home with you.

This is good advice, I work in a call centre but thankfully I'm in IT and not on the phones, no way I could deal with some of the idiots that phone in.

Enjoy making a fair bit of money for a fairly easy job, don't lose your cool if someone happens to be a little irate :)

ok I was, but I have worked in a call centre myself, I lasted two weeks before going out and finding another job. Its diabolically boring, and you have to polite to people no matter what and the managers are all idiots.
