Tips to Make Vista Faster

Hi All

I'd like your tips to get Vista going faster, e.g. switching off aero effect Windows etc. It does sometimes seem a bit ponderous when compared to XP.

Also, any tips to get Vista booting faster.

What spec are you running? Vista in Aero runs amazingly smooth for me on a very modest system (2GB RAM, 1.83 Core 2 Duo, Radeon HD2400).

Switching off the Desktop Compositor/Aero will slow things down as it reverts back to the legacy XP way of drawing windows...

Lots of RAM seems to be the most effective.
Was almost impossible to bear using back when i had 2gb of it, but with 4gb runs as well as xp if not better.

Switch off the maximising/minimizing effect for active windows.

System/System Properties->Advanced tab, click on the Settings button under Performance and unclick 'Animate windows when maximising/minimizing'.
